MARVIN B. MORGANBESSER, 79, of Falls Church, Virginia, passed away Thurs., Oct. 11, 2012.
Marvin was President of CCIA from 1977 until his retirement in 2008. He served the state’s construction industry for more than 40 years, first as Executive Director of the Connecticut Labor Relations Division of the New England Road Builders’ Association; then as Executive Vice President of CCIA, until he was named President and Counsel in 1977.
Prior to coming to Connecticut, Marvin graduated from New York University, served two years in the Army, attended its Graduate School of Business and graduated from NYU Law School and, while working at the National Labor Relations Board for five years, earned a Master of Laws from NYU. Marvin served as Assistant Attorney General in New York and was in private practice. Marvin was one of the founders and original members of the Construction Institute.
Formerly of West Hartford, Marvin leaves his wife Norma and two children and four grandchildren, to whom CCIA extends its sincere condolences.
Funeral services are Mon., Oct. 15, 2012, at 10:30 am in the Chapel at Weinstein Mortuary in Hartford, burial will follow at the Hartford Mutual Cemetery in Granby, and then a luncheon will be held at the Gillette Ridge Condos Club House, Day Hill Road, Bloomfield (the entrance is across from Cigna on Cottage Grove Road). Calling Hours will be held at the Gillette Ridge Condos Club House between 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm on Monday also.
