AGC of America is conducting an economic survey


over the next few weeks to determine the impact of compliance costs for contractors on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) notice for proposed rulemaking (NPRM) on confined space in construction. If enacted in its present form, this rule will create significant training, personnel and compliance costs for all sectors of the construction industry. OSHA’S RULE addressing employer payment for personal protective equipment (PPE)

was issued on November 15, 2007 and has to be implemented by the employer by May 15, 2008. The 90-page rule applies to the construction industry and requires employers to pay for PPE (ex. hard hats, safety glasses, welding helmets), with limited exceptions.
