In terms of worksite enforcement, this includes announcement of: (1) A final regulation on “no-match” letters; (2) Intent to publish a regulation reducing the number of acceptable documents for verification of employment eligibility; (3) Increased civil fines on employers of illegal workers; (4) Continued criminal investigations against employers believed to knowingly hire illegal workers; (5) Changes to the Basic Pilot Program (which is being re-branded as E-Verify) and efforts to increase its use and usefulness; and (6) Intent to commence formal rulemaking on a rule requiring all federal contractors to use E-Verify. CCIA members attended attended CTDOT’s press conference in Farmington highlighting National Work Zone Awareness Week, which honors the workers and professionals who help keep construction zones safe. CCIA President Don Shubert, was a one of the speakers, who urged motorists to take an active role in protecting roadway workers and drivers.
