In terms of worksite enforcement, this includes announcement of: (1) A final regulation on “no-match” letters; (2) Intent to publish a regulation reducing the number of acceptable documents for verification of employment eligibility; (3) Increased civil fines on employers of illegal workers; (4) Continued criminal investigations against employers believed to knowingly hire illegal workers; (5) Changes to the Basic Pilot Program (which is being re-branded as E-Verify) and efforts to increase its use and usefulness; and (6) Intent to commence formal rulemaking on a rule requiring all federal contractors to use E-Verify.
