2012 Build CT Call for Applications – AGC of CT Build CT Award Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011. The Awards Program will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Aqua Turf Club, Plantsville, CT. Registration material for the evening awards banquet will be sent out in early January 2012.

2012 Annual Meeting – AGC of Connecticut will hold its 65th Annual Meeting in conjunction with the Build CT Awards program on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Aqua Turf Club.  The tentative schedule is as follows: 4:00 p.m. – Board of Directors Meeting; 5:00 p.m. – Social Hour; 6:00 p.m. – Dinner; 7:00 p.m. – Annual Meeting/Build CT Awards Ceremony.

2011 Industry Recognition Awards – AGC of Connecticut Industry Recognition Award honored on October 13, 2011 at the Aqua Turf Club before about 300 members and guests. The winners were: Public Owner of the Year: Keith Epstein, CT State University System; Private Owner of the Year: David Frassinelli, Fairfield University; Designer of the Year: Clarence Welti, Ph.D., P.E., Clarence Welti Associates; GC/CM of the Year: Damien Davis, Newfield Construction; Subcontractor of the Year: Robert Berkmoes, James T. Kay Co.; Supplier/Service Provider of the Year: Michael Donnelly, Murtha Cullina LLP; Construction Supervisor of the Year: Martin Tubbs, Manafort Brothers, Inc.; Educator of the Year: Howard Epstein, Ph.D., P.E., University of Connecticut; and the newest category, Safety Professional of the Year: Walter Tucker, Petra Construction Corp. 

AGC/CT Board Achieves 100% Participation in AGC of America PAC – For the second straight year, all 24 members of the AGC/CT Board of Directors have contributed to the AGC of America Political Action Committee (PAC), fulfilling its commitment to achieve 100% Board participation in the AGC PAC 2011 Chapter Board Contest.  The chapter received Chapter Achievement Awards in 2008 and 2010 from AGC of America for its support of the national PAC.

Terry Wooding Nominated for AGC of America Building Division Chair – AGC/CT recently nominated Terry Wooding, Executive Vice President of Petra Construction, North Haven, to serve as Chair of the AGC of America Building Division in 2012.  Wooding served as Vice Chair of the division in 2011.  The Building Division focuses its attention issues affecting building contractors across the country, including Lean Construction, Green Construction, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).

Mike Timura Honored By New Britain Boys & Girls ClubsThe Boys and Girls Club of New Britain recently honored AGC National Lifetime Director Mike Timura for his volunteer work with the organization’s first-ever Hands Across Generations Award.  The ceremony was held on September 8, 2011 at the Aqua Turf Club.  In recognizing his contributions, the organization stated, “Through his actions, Mike has selflessly supported the mission of the Boys & Girls Club to promote the total development and well-being of youth.” Congratulations, Mike! 

CT Yankee Council, Boy Scouts of America Honors Bob Berkmoes – The CT Yankee Council of the Boy Scouts of America recently awarded Immediate Past President of AGC/CT with the Good Scout Award.  Bob is the Executive Vice President of the James T. Kay Co., Inc., Meriden. The award was presented at the Good Scout Luncheon, October 25, 2011 at the Aqua Turf.
