Build CT 2006

The 2006 BUILD CT AWARDS Program was held on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT.   This competition, sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut (AGC), is held every other year, and features submissions General Contractors and Construction Managers on Connecticut projects completed within the past three years.  There were four categories for the awards: (1) Large New Construction - $10 million & over, (2) Small New Construction – under $10 million, (3) Large Renovation - $5 million & over, and (4) Small Renovation – under $5 million.  A construction industry seven-member Judges panel selected the winners in each category. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2006 Large New Construction Winner: 
Lake Whitney Water Treatment Plant
 Hamden, CT

The contractor, C. H. Nickerson & Company, Inc. of Torrington, CT Owner, South Central CT, Regional Water Authority; 
two design firms, 
Steven Holl Architects and Michael Van Valkenburg Associates.
 

 

 


2006 Small New Construction Winner:
Raymond Hill School - Klingberg Family Centers

New Britain, CT

  

 

The contractor, Newfield Construction of Hartford, CT.  The Owner , Klingberg Family Centers, a private non-profit school for children with special needs. The project designer, Architects Environmental Collaborative International.

   

2006 Best Large Renovation Winner: 
Westport Country Playhouse
Westport, CT

 

  The construction manager, Turner Construction Company based in Milford, CT.   The owner, Connecticut Theatre Foundation and the unique project was designed by the architectural of Farewell Mills Gatsch Architects, LLC.  

 

   

2006 Best Small Renovation Winner:
Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Pediatric Intensive Care Unit/Laboratory/Pharmacy

Newington, CT


The winning contractor was Standard Builders, Inc. of Newington, CT.   The owner, Connecticut Children's Medical Center.  The architect was the
S/L/A/M Collaborative based in Glastonbury, CT.
