Construction NewsBRIEFS! 11-21-2012

A green building professional building skills training program on the principles of sustainability and trade-specific green construction knowledge for builders, renovators and building maintenance professionals, begins Dec. 4, 2012, at United Illuminating Training Room in Orange. Register by selecting a 3-part trade-specific course, of up to 12 hours at $490, such as construction management or operations & maintenance essentials.

Health care construction has slowed a bit in the last few years, but it remains a critically important sector for many architectural, engineering and construction firms, according to Building Design + Construction magazine. While healthcare clients are demanding sustainable design and construction as a matter of course, green building is no longer limited strictly to hospital projects.

A construction safety survey is being conducted by an Atlanta labor and employment lawyer who represents employers in order to determine different approaches being used to incentivize safety, track the effectiveness of safety efforts and to qualify and better manage subcontractors. Responses, which are anonymous, are due by the end of the month.
