Day Three, OSHA Fall Protection Stand Down Week

Wednesday, June 4, 2014 – Day Three, OSHA Fall Protection Stand Down Week

To All CCIA Members:

Today is Day Three of OSHA’s Fall Protection Stand Down Week to raise awareness of preventing fall hazards in construction. This is the third of five daily reminders that CCIA is sending out to you this week to encourage you to conduct a Stand Down training event at some point during this week, and report, through this link on the CCIA website, the number of employees you have trained in Fall Protection.

Today’s topic is Scaffolding Safety, and we are providing to you several resources available on the OSHA website, for your use in conducting a Stand Down training program.

The first resource is a Scaffolding Safety eTool available at this link on the OSHA website. This eTool provides illustrated safety checklists for specific types of scaffolds. It identifies hazards, as well as the controls that keep those hazards from becoming tragedies.

The second resource is this You Tube link containing OSHA’s Falls in Construction/Fixed Scaffolding video.

A third resource is the following series of two OSHA Fact Sheets on Scaffolding.

Scaffolding
(OSHA 3150 - 2002) (English: HTML PDF)

Scaffolding: Narrow Frame Scaffolds Fact Sheet
(OSHA 3722 – 2014) (English: PDF)

You may access other resources on various Fall Protection training topics at OSHA’s Stand Down Week website.

The topic for tomorrow, Thursday, June 5, 2014 – Day Four of Fall Protection Stand Down Week – will be Ladder Safety.

On behalf of the CCIA Safety Committee, I wish you a safe and healthy day.
