COMPLETION RULES AND REGULATIONS
Two Year Scholarship Program
POSTMARK DEADLINE: March 31st
A. Eligibility
- Applicant MUST be a graduating high school senior entering college as a freshman, or entering a two-year technical school with a construction course of study, with the intent of entering a four-year college upon completion of the technical school.
- Applicant MUST desire a career in construction.
- Applicant MUST PURSUE a B.S. DEGREE IN CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY OR CONSTRUCTION/CIVIL ENGINEERING. A dual degree with construction or construction/civil engineering as one part is acceptable.
- Student MUST be a U.S. Citizen or documented permanent resident of the United States (i.e. must possess a “green card”).
B. Requirements
- Applicant is responsible for ensuring that all of the following items are submitted as one package and postmarked by March 31st:
a. completed four-page signed Application;
b. One Faculty Evaluation Form completed by high school faculty member familiar with scholastic achievement and school history;
c. Two Personal Evaluation Forms completed by adults not related to the applicant;
d. Official transcript* of grades or copy of high school diploma.

Incomplete application packages will NOT be considered.
C. Awards
Scholarships will be a maximum of $5,000 for a two-year period - $2,500 per year for tuition and two years student work experience with a local contractor following participation in the AGC Scholarship Program.
- Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by the AGC Education Scholarship Committee, which will consider the applicant’s interest in construction, grades, extracurricular activities, employment experience, adult evaluations, and financial status.
- All applicants selected as semi-finalists will be subject to a personal interview with representatives from the Committee in mid-May. The winning applicant will be notified in writing by the end of April.
- The Scholarship Committee will solely determine all Awards.
- Checks will be sent directly to the recipient’s college or university by the AGC/CT in Mid-August and proof of receipt to the AGC is required by September 1.
- For subsequent award installments the scholarship winner may be required to provide indications of continued need, continued interest in construction, and continued enrollment and good standing in a college program leading to a B.S. in Construction or Construction/Civil Engineering.
- Grade transcripts and upcoming class schedules must be forwarded at the conclusion of each academic year.
- Recipients will be placed in related employment situations for the two summers following the scholarship program participation. Summer Work checks will be forwarded to employers for underwriting their costs associated with the 10 week summer work experiences. Students will be paid a minimum of $250 per week by the employing contractor or more depending on work situation.
